Bloody "Don't Text & Drive" billboard would probably cause deaths.

(click image, via) I say "would" because this looks like a scam execution created by the Ecuadorian office of Publicis to try to fool some less than diligent awards shows judges. But seriously: put the fucking iPhone down when you're driving, walking, eating, fucking, anywhere near me. Note: this is only the third bloodiest Don't Text & Drive PSA I've seen: these two were gorier. update: agency copywriter says not a scam (see comments).

This is not a scam. We win bronze in Outdoor in Ojo de Iberoamérica 2011. Give me your e-mail to send you another photo of the billboard and the creative team. By the way, I'm the copywriter.

My email is at the top left of my blog page, but if you say it's real, I'll take your word for it.

Do you have any evidence (empirical peer reviewed studies using quasi-experimental techniques) to make such a claim that it probably causes more deaths? or is this just more internet ignorance?

On an issue as serious as road deaths I suggest you stop being an ignorant fool with that kind of headline. It is very disrespectful and spreading ignorance.

Happy Thursday!

perhaps it is real, but the photo with the story is obviously a comp'd photoshop layout. there is no way that gigantic iphone is actually in that photo, the color, lighting, sharpeness of the phone, etc do not match the surroundings.

Anon, a shot of a bloody head on a billboard will take drivers' eyes off the road for maybe longer than is safe.

Hey anonymous asshole, next time you are going to be a stupid dick at least have the balls to leave your name. He's right about it being very distracting. I agree that it would cause more harm than good.

Hey Joe, leave those balls and dick out of it.

Ever think 'Anonymous' might be a Mother Against Drunk Drivers?

Clearly the pic in the story is photoshopped. Either that or the person who hung it was drunk. Look at the angle of the sign post versus the sign. Pole leans left sign is square to right. I don't doubt there was a real ad that went along wth this, I'm thinking this is some kind of proof of concept.

Hey anonymous 'Joe' asshole,
next time you decide to support completely unfounded claims that ring sharply of 'I don't like being told what to do and that is why I ran over your daughter because I had to text my buddy Matt a "Dude, what's the plan tonight?" text message that really just couldn't wait' have the balls to leave your name.

I agree that it's probably a good message to display and all drivers and pre-drivers should take note.
