Beating women with words—domestic violence awareness ads.

(click ads, via) Ooh, the scars are shaped like the sound waves of the hurtful words—kind of shocking and mildly interesting. The campaign is for KAFA, a Lebanese non-profit organization "committed to the achievement of gender-equality and non-discrimination, and the advancement of the human rights of women and children."
It's reminiscent of the most powerful domestic violence commercial I've ever seen. However, upon closer examination, you'll notice that the digital face work is less than superb. Ad agency: Y&R Dubai.
For more domestic violence awareness ads, go here and here.
And here's seven domestic violence videos ranging from great to terrible.

You have been asked numerous times, if these are foreign ads, why is the text in English?

According to 'youswear.com', the Lebanese for - slut - bitch - whore - is Ahbeh

as well as Charmouta - whore

Can you imagine the trouble in getting the proper sound waves each time and the corresponding digital work for whatever language?

Yes, usually it's for PR reasons, but these may actually have run in English. KAFA's website has a lot of English content.

It's mostly because all ghost ads need to be understood by a jury at Cannes ;)

Being Lebanese myself, I agree the arabic words would've made more impact; coz I think nothing rings better in your ear than lebanese insults :)
